I think I feel more at home on the coast of Maine than anywhere else (including "home"). We have visited this area - from York to Bar Harbor and Acadia - many times and the Nubble is always our first stop. Although heavy with tourists most of the time, one can still find a quiet rock to sit on and simply take in the atmosphere of the place, from the sound of the surf and the smell of the sea to the solitude of the light itself. The best time to photograph the Nubble is just before the sun slips below the western horizon, and the tower and keeper's house are illuminated by the day's last direct light. It also helps if there are dark clouds in the background!
