Dec. 26, 2006 - Sunrise Over Pond (near Corning, NY)

Canon 20D, 24 - 70 mm f/2.8 @ 24 mm, f/8.0, 1/50 sec., ISO 400, Aug. 2005

For some reason, sunrise and sunset color is much stronger in the southern tier area of New York State (where we used to live) than it is in the Rochester area (where we live now). Since our latest move, I have had virtually no success in capturing interesting early or late light - it all just sort of fizzles out. I have no meterological explanation, or even any reason to believe that one exists, but my limited experience suggests that there might actually be a difference.

This image was taken from my own backyard (we had a pond) on an August morning. Why did we move? Good question.
