Dec. 7, 2006 - Storm Clouds at Sunset, York, Maine

Canon 10D, 20 - 35 mm @ 30 mm, f/8.0, 1/20 sec., ISO 200, Sept. 2004

Like many photographers, I often go back to look at images that were taken months or years previously that weren't given a lot of attention when they were "fresh". Sometimes, for reasons that I don't understand, I react strongly to a few of these compositions. The question, of course, is - Why now and not then? Do some images need to "ferment" for a time before we see what must have triggered us to snap the shutter in the first place? Whatever the reason, it happens often enough to make you wonder. This is one of those images.

This was taken in September, 2004 as the remnants of Hurricane Ivan moved up the coast of Maine.
