In my mind, there is something timeless about watching the ocean at work. For me, it is mesmerizing. The sea comes into shore and then retreats, each time eroding the rocks a tiny, tiny bit more. Over the course of millions of years, the shoreline changes. The earth itself changes. It is a process that never ends.
I recently participated in an online forum discussion (a photography forum) that asked the question: Which is stronger, the sea or the land that it constantly attacks? (Surely we have better things to do, right?) I was surprised by the intensity of the "debate". How can there be any doubt? The sea always wins. One only has to sit by the shore and watch for a time. And then it is obvious.
