Feb. 28, 2007 - Doorway to the Gulf

After driving through a snowstorm in Virginia, we finally arrived at our first destination (Pensacola Beach). Warm sand and 70 degree temperatures beats snow and slush any day (especially when you have a bad cold).

This image was taken just after sunrise from underneath the Pensacola Beach pier. From this vantage point, it almost looks like a tunnel out to the Gulf.
