March 31, 2007 - Cannon Fire at the Alamo

Spectators at the Alamo watch as smoke and debris fill the air during a cannon firing demonstration commemorating Texas Independence. Hollywood movies notwithstanding, the conflict here in 1836 was essentially an artillery battle. Close quarter combat didn't occur until the very end and lasted a very short time. A good artillery crew could fire one of these things 4 times a minute. After watching them load during this demonstration, I find that absolutely amazing.
