One of my favorite spots in Zion is along the Virgin River near an observation area known as Big Bend. There are a number of quiet spots here that lie within the river's flood plain. Trees and wildlife (mostly deer and small animals) are plentiful. The backdrop, of course, is the red canyon walls with their coatings of black desert varnish. On a quiet day, when crowds in the park are light, it's a wonderful place to sit by the river and just take it all in. Definitely very good for one's mental health!
