Every generation must discover the world on its own. Seeing pictures of frogs and reading about frogs is, of course, an important part of learning. But holding one in your hand is a learning experience of the highest order. I told my grandson, by the way, that it was also important to release him (unharmed) in the same place that he was caught. Hopefully, he will learn that even small creatures are an important part of the natural order of things.
