June 25, 2007 - Lower Taughannock Falls
Canon 5D, 24 - 70 mm f/2.8L @ 45 mm, f/16, 6.0 sec., ISO 100, ND Filter
This waterfall is about a mile downstream from the much larger and much more photographed Taughannock Falls. Just downstream from this point, Taughannock Creek empties into Cayuga Lake. A large part of the park that borders the lake is built on sediment that has been carried downstream for thousands of years.
Not too long ago, I don't think that I would have described myself as a "fan" of high contrast black and white images, but I've seen a number of them over the last few months and seem to have acquired a taste for this look. It is true, however, that I like dark tones and this certainly meets that criteria.
