The Charlotte Pier is probably the most popular "walking spot" around Rochester (in the summer, anyway). On a warm summer evening, it's wall - to - wall people, with some just walking around and some fishing from the pier. Early morning, though, is usually much quieter.

On the left of the pier is the Genesee River; on the right, Lake Ontario. This view looks south toward the spot where Rochester's "Fast Ferry" to Toronto used to dock. The ferry was supposed to draw tourist dollars to Rochester and New York's Finger Lakes region. After about 2 years of financial disaster, the ferry was sold to a European company. One more piece of hard evidence that Rochester is decidedly not a tourist attraction.
