August 30, 2007 - Cloud Formation, near San Rafael Reef, Utah

This image was captured just off of I-70 in Utah, near a formation known as the San Rafael Reef. We were in the final stages of our trek across country (and our "permanent" move to Las Vegas, NV) when I spotted some thunderstorm activity and some truly amazing cloud formations. We pulled off at the next available viewing area where I took a number of pictures.

I've done this particular image in both color and black and white and very much prefer the tonal range of the latter. As a side note, this photograph reminds me of scenes from the movie "Independence Day". If you've seen that film, you probably know what I'm talking about.
