On a recent visit to Red Rock Canyon state park (also part of the BLM system), we ran into a couple of thunderstorms. One bolt of lightning even started a small brush fire, bringing park rangers and a fire truck quickly to the scene. Red Rock Canyon, by the way, is just to the west of Las Vegas and contains some beautiful rock formations, as well as a contingent of wild burros and even a few wild horses.

This image was taken shortly after one of the storms had passed. I would rather have captured a lightning strike or two, but I just wasn't quick enough. Maybe next time.
