The Pine Creek Canyon trail is within Red Rock Canyon and is one of a few trails that actually contains a small stream with running water. Away from the stream, it is typical desert terrain. Closer to the stream, there are trees, grass, and other types of vegetation that require more water.

As the sun was setting behind the western canyon walls, horizontal side light briefly illuminated these small trees, making the leaves appear nearly translucent.
