Oct. 5, 2007 - Disneyland for "Adults"
Canon G7
Walking around Las Vegas at night is a remarkable experience on so many levels. There is, of course, the experience of raw sensory overload. You can easily spot those in the crowd who are probably here for the first time. Sometimes they just sort of stand there and "spin" in place! Their senses seem incapable of processing the color, the noise, or the choices that lie before them.
For those who are "repeat" visitors, the experience is not the newness of it all, but rather the intense anticipation of what is to come. Many (if not most) come here to gamble. Others come for the big - name shows and larger than life entertainment. Some come simply to party, in a place that not only encourages it, but depends on it. And they all come from every corner of the world. Las Vegas is a unique cultural mix, unique because the mix is largely temporary. After a few days, they all go home.
This image was taken on one of the busier corners of the strip (Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevard), looking toward the brightly lit towers of Excalibur. New York - New York is directly behind me and the MGM Grand is across the street to the left.
