This 1/5 replica of the real Brooklyn Bridge sits in front of New York New York, just north of the Statue of Liberty replica. Supposedly, some 15 million people "cross" this bridge every year, although I haven't a clue as to who's actually counting. The New York New York main marquee, some 200 feet high, can be seen in the background. It doesn't really lean to the right (as it appears to be in this photograph). It's just an effect of lens distortion that I decided not to correct, much to the chagrin of my friend Steve Weeks. It was the company he works for that built and installed the marquee and they're understandably sensitive about the darned thing looking tipsy.

Speaking of tipsy, you can pay $200 for the privilege of standing on the bridge New Year's eve (it includes an open bar). According to the local news, they're expecting some 300,000 people on the strip to welcome in the new year (I won't be one of them). Talk about a mass of humanity.......I mean, there's a great fireworks show, but 300,000 people? No thanks - I'll watch it on TV.
