When we moved to Las Vegas in August, every day was hotter than 100 degrees. Not quite four months later, winter has arrived. While it rarely snows in the Las Vegas valley, it can get chilly in the winter and we do get snow at higher elevations. In this case, the snow line dropped down to about 3,500 feet (low enough to affect parts of Red Rock Canyon). You can't see it from this viewpoint, but believe me, there was white stuff falling out of the sky in those gray clouds hanging on the cliffs. It was very fine and didn't leave a lot on the ground, but it was real snow. The park was closed the day before, by the way, because of heavy rain and 60 mph winds.
I thought I'd left this kind of ka-ka back in New York!
