Another Memorial Day weekend. The good news (from my point of view, anyway) was the abnormally cool temperatures in southern Nevada. Temperatures should be in the lower 90's here, but we had a number of days in the high 60's to high 70's. Not great weather for the tourists coming to sun themselves by the pool, but perfect for hiking. I found myself on one of my favorite trails (the Oak Creek Canyon trail near Red Rock) this past Sunday and loving every second of it. It had rained the day before, so the desert had that wonderful wet smell. And, as a bonus, all kinds of stuff - including this cactus - had burst into bloom. Once the weather returns to "average", all of this will disappear.

Summer is coming. Change is coming. In a very short time, everything will be different (once again).
