In about 10 days, all of this will begin fading into memory. A pleasant memory for the most part, but a part of our past, nonetheless. We've enjoyed living in the desert. We've enjoyed the Las Vegas experience (although it's certainly not for everyone). I very much enjoyed my job - something I'd never done before and probably will never do again.

Most of all, I enjoyed the desert landscape. With respect to the lower 48, it's unique. There's just nothing like it anywhere else. Even when the photographs sucked, the hikes were memorable. Perhaps someday I'll pass this way again. I hope so.

But as the TV commercial says, sometimes "life comes at you fast". Poop happens. In an instant, your life and your expectations change. In this case, it's all for the best. We're going home.
